ABOUT THE ACADEMY

Our academy aims to provide an environment where young cricketers can learn and develop their skills, foster a love of competition and a willingness to adapt a positive mindset through the combination of cricket skills and athletic development.

GIRLS ACADEMY | TERM 2 OFF-SEASON | 1 MAY – 12 JUNE 2025

DATES – Thursdays 1st May to 12th June (7 Weeks)

VENUE – Glyn Netto Junior Nets / Dymock Oval | Northern Suburbs District Cricket Club | Best accessed via Benelong Street, Kedron

COST – $160

FOR – Girls aged 7 to 15

This jam packed academy program is aimed at developing cricket skills, fitness, mental/tactical and technical skills and most importantly enjoyment. It also provides the club with talent identification so that WNJCC can continue to nurture those identified cricketers through their cricket journey and pathways up into our affiliate senior cricket club NSDCC and representative cricket with the BNJCA.

GIRLS SQUAD

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Emphasis on the basics of the game and exposure to match-based open scenarios
  • Areas of focus will include fundamental cricket elements especially fielding and gameplay
  • Players will be trained in a competitive and open environment where decision making will be the key; the need to make mistakes and learn from these is crucial to development
  • Exposure to coordination exercises and learning movement patterns specific to cricket
  • Key cricketing values of teamwork, enthusiasm, problem solving, and selflessness will all be promoted with a squad dynamic

SESSION OUTLINE

Fielding/Movement & Game Sense Component

– Catching, throwing, movement patterns

– Scenario based game play

Cricket Skill Development Session

– Batting/Bowling, live net’s, game scenarios, all specific to the week’s focus ie. Playing spin, performing under fatigue, T20 play

– Competition Based Cricket Activity

– A new skill will be tested each session.

• Training Clothing including Hat & Water Bottle

• Cricket Batting Equipment including rubber soled shoes
