Master Blasters is for boys and girls aged between 7 – 9 years (boys) or 7 – 11 (girls) who have basic ball and motor skills, no prior cricket experience required. It is the first level of team cricket played as an intra-club competition, rules are modified to create activity, maximize participation and stop boredom- shorter pitch, smaller boundaries, out is NOT out, it is all about the players enjoying themselves and having fun.
Master Blasters have several all girl’s only teams in the Master Blasters competition.
Children prefer to play the real game and look like a cricketer by wearing the club clothing & whites. Batters are to use protective pads and gloves, including the wicket keeper. Helmets are recommended but not compulsory (these are supplied). This allows children to become used to playing in the correct equipment and to experience how a real game of cricket is played.
Masters Blasters is exactly the same in every way as our previous Friday Night Super 6’s but now under the banner of Cricket Australia’s Cricket Blast Program ‘Master Blasters’. By being under Cricket Australia all players will be eligible for a BBL cap of their choice, will receive a Club playing shirt and be eligible to receive Gabba invitations throughout the cricket season (unlike previous seasons).
