Age Group Guide

Is Age Dispensation required to move within eligible grades?

U8 to U12

The policy position by WNJCC is for Master Blaster (U8 & U9) to U12 Competitions a player can play-up by four months or play-down by two months either side of the BNJCA Age Specification without obtaining Age Dispensation.

Players wishing to play up an age group, outside of this four month buffer, must download the Age Dispensation Consent Form (2021) and submit to us for consideration. It will be necessary for the player (parent/carer) to justify why they wish to play up and how their playing skills are suited to doing so. In some cases our club coach may need to assess the players skills to ensure they are appropriate for the desired age group.

U13 to Open Divisions

For the Under 13 to Open Divisions, which are competitive divisions, age restrictions are DEFINITE. However, WNJCC Participation Policy caters for dispensation outside the eligible ages in these divisions based on a player’s physical development and in conjunction with their ability and/or experience, thus it may be such that he or she may be allowed to participate in an age grade competition that is one year above their eligible age grade. Should you be seeking Age Dispensation please email ( for an Age Dispensation Consent Form.

Any BNJCA Championship player is permitted to play a year up, if requested.

As a Club, WNJCC Coaches and Club Officials believe Cricket is a confidence game. Players are encouraged to play in their age group, especially in the younger age groups, so that their skills could be improved.  By playing in his/her age level, not necessarily with children from his/her year level, it is a great way to make friends and will avoid complications when he/she reaches the U13’s, when the Club and Association are much stricter regarding the age policy.

Please contact us if you have any questions regarding Age Dispensation.
